Holy cow! May went out with such a heat wave and we gotta tell you, we just sampled yesterday the most unbelievable organic blackberry ice cream (that will sell for less than $5.00!) that we not only ate right out of the carton, but poured into champagne! Expect to see it at Jumpin' J's in the next three weeks.
To review our last tasting menu, photographs, and comments, please click here. The primary focus of these last three tastings have been to show people how to create "conveniently gourmet" food for any party, informal gathering or just as a treat for yourself. Our tasters' responses often reflect this. This month, the tasting will be on Tuesday, June 13th, due to Father's Day occurring on the 18th, and we have the first of our guest chefs who will be preparing more delectable and, of course, "conveniently gourmet" dishes for you . Q Derks, Executive Chef of The Avalon, is coming to play with our wares, just for you! It'll be back at the house and we look forward to a beautiful, early summer evening. Speaking of such, we will be excited to highlight Gryffon's Aerie Heritage Livestock & Artisan Meats, an incredible small "clean" farmer with a great spirit out of Gordonsville, Virginia, at the tasting and for your own summertime grillin' at Jumpin' J's. And you won't believe what else will be coming, but you have to shop with us in order for us to do this, so go check it out. We do have great stuff!
Okay, so the happenings on the building are: we have complied with all of the zoning requirements of which, the Church Hill Association's Board and General Membership previously approved, and anticipate being before City Council's July Session. We are so diligently striving as members of this neighborhood to find the perfect balance and union within a community that is primarily residential and has very few services available. We will notify everyone in our July newsletter of the City Council date. We encourage and implore the people in the Church Hill area to have a voice in their neighborhood. Commonwealth Architects, of whom Scott Gordon is our Project Manager, are doing a fabulous job at putting ideas to paper and moving them all to our building stage. Demolition is what's next, then shoring, then building, AND THEN BETTER GROCERIES AND DELICACIES FOR YOUR PALATES.
Life is good. Summer's here. Think about a picnic. Go grilling on the water. Happy June everybody! Remember, if you want to talk to us, give us your favorite product, let us know how we're doing, please do: info@churchhillmarket.com. Special thanks to Vanessa Diamond for letting us know about a great recipe she concocted with our fabulous Lavender Syrup with tofu and also for forwarding an article in May's Mother Jones magazine on the alternative to the global corporate food machine.
